Match Preview: Pools host Bradford

19 August 2022

Hartlepool United host their second game of the week as Bradford City visit the Suit Direct Stadium on Saturday (1pm KO).

The Opposition

The Bantams sit 14th in League Two after one win in four so far. Losses to Barrow and Colchester, a draw with Doncaster, and a win over Newport County give them four points so far, though they did defeat Championship side Hull City in the Carabao Cup first round last week.

Three former Poolies feature in Bradford’s defence - Timi Odusina, Luke Hendrie, and Romoney Crichlow.

The History

The sides have meet 90 times previously, with Pools winning 33 times, Bradford winning 35 times, and 22 matches ending in a draw.

Last season, it was three points apiece. A Mark Cullen brace and an own-goal saw Pools win 3-1 at the Utilita Energy Stadium, before Bradford were 2-0 victors at the Suit Direct Stadium in March. Now-Hartlepool midfielder Callum Cooke featured for Bradford in their victory, provided assists for both goals.

Team News

Joe Grey and Mika Ndjoli are both back in training after their injuries, while Euan Murray has trained after a dead leg in the midweek clash with Tranmere.
