Match report: Salford

2 April 2022

A home defeat for Pools as high flying Salford sink two past Graeme Lee' side.

A good start to the game for Pools saw plenty of possesion with Fletcher and White heavily involved. Pools continued to be patient with build up play and Salford defended strongly.

The first chance for Pools came after nine minutes. Ferguson managed to get himself to the byline and pull the ball back for the waiting Featherstone but his effort wad blocked.

Just two minytes later, Salford broke down the other end and Hunter's cross-come-shot had to be tipped over the bar by Killip.

The first goal of the game came after 19 minutes. The full-back Ndaba found himself on the edge of the box and his low effort was enough to fly past Killip and put Salford one goal ahead.

The goal was met with a good response from Pools as three minutes after, White drives towards the Salford defence and has a low shot blocked.

On 28 minutes, Salford had a second. Jason Lowe picked the ball up from around 35 yards out and smashed into the top corner. Nothing Ben Killip could have done and Salford double their lead as the first half ends 2-0.

The second half started similar to the first as Pools started strongly. Sterry got past King the goalkeeper right on the byline, swung a ball back into the area but no one in blue and white could meet the cross.

On 62 minutes, Omar Bogle is played in behind to be pushed in the back but referee waves it away.

Two strikes from Crawford and Sterry in the last 15 minutes glance over and the game closes out in defeat for Pools.
