Pools sign Jordan Cook

16 September 2021

We are delighted to announce the signing of Jordan Cook.

The forward joins us on a permanent deal after leaving Gateshead at the end of last season.

Born in Hetton-le-hole, Cook started his career at boyhood club Sunderland AFC and went on to make three senior appearances after making a Boxing Day debut against Manchester United in 2010.

Whilst under contract at our North East neighbours, Cook enjoyed loan spells at Darlington, Walsall and Carlisle United.

In 2012, the forward made a permanent move Charlton Athletic in the Championship. After a short spell at Charlton, Cook moved to Walsall where he would go on to be a permanent feature in the Saddlers side featuring over 70 times in two seasons.

The 31-year old has most recently featured for Luton, Grimsby Town and last season for Gateshead and has been highly commended for his versatility to play as a striker or as an attacking midfielder.

Dave Challinor spoke about his new signing:

We are very young at the top end and that brings inconsistencies at times and we can’t rely solely on that youthful exuberance. Without question we need to add presence and goals to the team and Jordan has shown a capacity to be able to do this.

Cook gave his reaction after signing for Pools:

‘I am delighted to finally get this done. I have been training with the squad for a few weeks and it is a great bunch of lads. There is a lot of potential with this squad and I am looking forward to being apart of it’.

Cook will wear the number 19. The forward will feature in saturdays match squad subject to EFL clearance.
