Hartepool United travelto Tranmere this weekend looking to pick up their first away points of the season. Despite goals from Tyler Burey and Will Goodwin away to Barrow, Dave Challinor's side are still waiting to get their first away win back in League Two.
Tranmere have started the season with one win out of five, with the victory coming on the opening day against Walsall. New manager Micky Mellon is hoping to build on last season's performance, which saw the Merseyside outfit reach the play-off places.
The side features plenty of names with Football League experience, and can now count a former Poolie within their ranks. Josh Hawkes has joined on loan from Sunderland in a deadline-day move and the midfielder could be in line to play against Pools this weekend.
Former Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing also features for Rovers.
The sides have met 106 times in the past, with Pools winning 41 of the previous fixtures. 28 games have ended in a draw, while Tranmere have been the victors on 57 occasions. The last meeting between the sides was in April 2018 when Pools were 2-1 victors. A Liam Donnelly penalty and a Rhys Oates strike put Pools in control before Jeff Hughes scored a consolation for the visitors.
Dave Challinor is waiting on the fitness of key players, including Gary Liddle, Zaine Francis-Angol, and Gavan Holohan, while new signing Eddie Jones is available to start his second spell with the club after joining on loan from Stoke. Fela Olomola scored in Tuesday evening's Papa John's Trophy fixture, and the former Southampton frontman will hope for more opportunities on Saturday.
