Clint Hill joins Pools

9 October 2021

We are delighted to announce Clint Hill has joined the Hartlepool United management team.

After being apart recent training sessions and in the dugout for Tuesday nights Papa Johns Trophy Fixture, Clint has signed on the dotted line to join the management team on a permanent basis.

Clint, who enjoyed a sparkling playing career, making nearly 600 senior appearances over 21 years started his footballing journey at Tranmere Rovers with then teammate Dave Challinor.

The Gaffer gave his thoughts on Clint joining the management team:

I’m delighted that Clint has agreed to join our management team and I know he’ll be a big success. We have been looking to add someone since Joe unfortunately moved on and replacing him was always going to be tough.

In Clint though I’m sure he will add value lost in Joe’s departure. He’s someone I’ve obviously known for a long time since our playing days at Tranmere. His principles haven’t changed since his time as a player, he’s a hard worker, brilliant professional and a winner. His playing career taking him to the highest levels, playing for some big clubs and playing until the age he did proves this. He’s now a young coach that already has experience at Fleetwood Town and Bristol Rovers and I’ve not doubt will add to the dynamic in our staff with Sweens, Jake, Dimi and myself.

He’s already getting his hands dirty and mucking in with delivery, helping players individually and collectively and he’ll be able to help them with his know how. I know he’ll be taken aback by the atmosphere inside The Vic on Saturday and would ask you all to give him a special Poolie welcome.

Clint Hill gave his reaction after joining Pools:

I’m delighted to be joining Hartlepool till the end of the season, and thank the Manager for giving me the opportunity to be here.

After speaking to the manager and hearing about the plans he has for the club over the next few years, it was something I wanted to be a part of.

I’m really looking forward to working hard with the current staff and players, and hopefully we can go on and have a successful season.

I have been in a few training sessions and I can already see this is a great squad. There is a lot of great talent and as a group, they want to work really hard.

I was obviously in the dugout Tuesday night but I am looking forward to seeing The Vic packed out for a league game. I have heard a lot of great things about the fans and I can’t wait to get properly started.
