Following their first defeat since February, Hartlepool
United host Maidenhead in their penultimate home game of the 2020-21 National
League season. Pools are looking to get back on track, and with just four gamesleft, every game counts.
Maidenhead have won two of their last five, beating Woking
at home and thrashing Wealdstone 6-0 on their own turf. They've also lost toWeymouth and held Kings Lynn and Wrexham to draws. The Magpies are 12thin the table, nine points for the play-off positions.
The team is led by manager Alan Devonshire and usually field
a balanced team. Midfielder Ryan Upward has missed just one game this season, while Manny Parry, Alan Massey, and Taye Ashby-Hammond have missed two.
This will be the 7th meeting between the clubs. Pools
have the advantage in head-to-heads, winning four of the six previous games andlosing the other two.
This season, Pools won the reverse fixture 4-0 after an own
goal from Alan Massey and strikes from Claudio Ofosu, Ryan Johnson, and GavanHolohan.
Following his red card at Bromley, Gary Liddle serves his
one-match suspension against Maidenhead. Lewis Cass missed out on the trip to
London, but will hope to be back in contention at the Vic. There would be
recalls for Jake Cooper and Ryan Johnson in place of the experienced Liddle,
while others will be looking to stake a claim if Dave Challinor decides tofreshen things up.
Ben Killip and Joe Grey are long-term absentees with elbowand back injuries respectively.
