Pools sign Jake Cooper

5 March 2021

Hartlepool United are delighted to announce the signing of Jake Cooper.

The defender joins on loan from Rotherham United till the end of the season.

Rotherham Academy graduate Jake Cooper penned a new deal back in March 2020, keeping him at AESSEAL New York Stadium until 2022.

After joining the Millers youth setup back in 2015, Cooper quickly acclimatised to the first-team environment and the 19-year-old now has his sights set on breaking into the senior ranks at Rotherham on a more permanent basis.

The Academy graduate first put pen-to-paper on a professional deal back in June 2019.

Cooper then went out on loan for the second half of the 2019/20 season with fellow North East club Gateshead FC and also spent the first half of the current campaign with the National League North Side.

We spoke to Manager Dave Challinor regarding his new signing:

"Jake is someone we looked at earlier in the season. He has great experience for someone still young. We never felt like we replaced Tyler (Magloire) after he left so we are delighted to bring Jake in. There are injuries to the squad and if called upon tomorrow, I know Jake can fit right in."

Jake Cooper also spoke about his new move:

"I am over the moon to get this done. After speaking to the Gaffer I knew this was the right step for me. I have seen how well the boys have been doing and I want to come in and play, and help out as best I can. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Gateshead but I am excited about this new challenge."

Cooper is available for tomorrow's game at Torquay and will wear shirt number 33.
