Match preview: Pools host Woking at The Vic

19 March 2021

Hartlepool United welcome Woking to the Vic on Saturday

aiming to get back to winning ways after consecutive draws against Altrincham,

Eastleigh, and King's Lynn.

Pools are unbeaten in eight games and will be looking to

avenge their defeat at The Laithwaite Community Stadium in December. At the

time, Pools trailed Woking by two points, sitting five places below the

visitors who were sixth. Now, Dave Challinor's men are second, just six points

off the league leaders, Sutton United.

The Opposition

Woking currently sit in 18th, 11 points from the play-off

places. They've won just one of their last five, a 3-0 win against Pools' last

opponents King's Lynn. Led by manager Alan Dawson, the team includes former

Wolves winger Matt Jarvis and former Poolie Niko Muir, recently brought in on

loan from Hampton & Richard.

Woking's last five games:

Woking 1 – 1 Altrincham

Yeovil 2 – 1 Woking

Woking 0 – 0 Boreham Wood

Woking 3 – 0 King's Lynn Town

Altrincham 1 – 0 Woking

The History

The teams have played each other five times, with Pools

winning just once against the Cards. Our solitary victory came at Victoria Park

in February 2018. Goals from Devante Rodney, Jake Cassidy, and Rhys Oates, then

in his first spell with the club, won us the game 3-2.

Team News

Pools will be without Lewis Cass due to his suspension. Otherwise, Dave Challinor has a full squad to choose from.
