Pools sign Olomola

21 July 2021

We are delightedto announce the signing of Olufela Olomola.

The forwardjoins us after recently leaving Scunthorpe United.

Olomola is a former-Arsenal youth graduate who made

his move to Southampton at a very young age. He went on a half-season loan

spell from the Saints to Yeovil at the start of the 2017/18 season and made a

real impact with seven goals in 21 league appearances.

His exploits at Huish Park earned him a three-year

contract with Scunthorpe when he left Southampton in the summer of 2018, and he

returned for a second half-season term with the Glovers at the beginning of the

following season.

In August 2019, the forward joined Carlisle Unitedon a season-long loan scoring five goals for the Blues.

Best known as ‘Fela', the front man is best known

for his explosive pace and attacking threat and has shown his finishing

capabilities during the current pre-season. Fela was able to grab four goals in

the second half during Pools' game at Runcorn and also had the ball in the back

of net against Spennymoor but that was deemed offside.

Dave Challinor spoke about his new signing:

Fela has come in and earned a deal. He's looked

sharp in training, took his goals well, granted against lower opposition but

has looked a threat. We now have to work with him to get out of him what we

need over the coming weeks. Undoubtedly with the delivery and quality we have

in wide areas we will create chances and if he keeps putting himself in the

right positions he'll get opportunities to score.
