Molyneux signs contract extension

20 July 2021

We are delighted to announce Luke Molyneux has signed a newdeal with the club.

Molyneux puts pen to paper after enjoying his second permanent season with the club ending in promotion in Bristol.

The winger had his part to play with key moments throughout

the season. The winning goal against Torquay back in March saw Pools take all

three points from Plainmoor. Furthermore, Molyneux was calm and collected to

put away a play-off final penalty after just entering the field at Ashton Gate.

Luke, was signed on a permanent deal back in June 2019 after

a successful loan period from North East neighbours Sunderland. In that loan spell,

Molyneux scored twice in 16 appearances, including a unforgettable injury-time

winner against Dover Athletic which saw Pools come from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

Dave Challinor spoke about Luke signing his contractextension:

I am delighted that Luke has decided to sign his contract and stay.

For him, last season didn't finish the way he wanted it to but his potential and talent is clear for everyone to see. We are looking forward to working with him in a new league and hope he can start in a positive way.

Molyneux also spoke about staying at Pools:

Delighted to get this finally sorted, I've loved every moment at Hartlepool and can't wait to see what the EFL brings.

Seeing all the fans at Bristol was surreal and they have been a huge part of my journey at this club. I can't wait to see The Vic packed out for the first home game against Crawley.
