We are delighted to announce that Zaine-Francis Angol hassigned a new deal with the club ahead of our EFL League two campaign.
The defender made six appearances for Pools last season after signing from Boreham Wood in April. This included an impressive cameo in the promotion final against Torquay.
Francis-Angol started in the
Tottenham Hotspur Academy. In 2011 he moved North of the border to sign for
Motherwell. After four seasons with Motherwell making over 60appearances, Francis-Angol signed with Kidderminster Harriers.
After two seasons with Kidderminster, Dave Challinor signed him
for Fylde on a 2 year deal where they made the play-offs in both seasons and
won the FA Trophy.A move to league Two followed with Accrington Stanley, however
after the expiration of his contract Boreham Wood snapped up the highly rated
left back/winger.Francis-Angol made 16 appearances for the Wood including startingagainst Hartlepool back in December at The Vic.
Dave Challinor spoke about ZFA's new deal:
It is something that has been in the pipeline for a while. Zaine was a small part of our success when he joined last season.
I know he wants to kick on and prove himself in the EFL. He is a really good option for us, certainly different to what we have in Ferguson. Zaine is good competition for that left hand side.
ZFA spoke about staying at Pools:
I am delighted to sign a new deal ahead of the new season. I have quickly learned how great this club is. The scenes in Bristol were surreal and the fans were different class.
I certainly want to push on this season and I can't wait to play in front of a packed out Victoria Park in the new League Two season.
