Hartlepool United snatched all three points In a mirror-image of last season's game with Yeovil Town at the Vic.
After falling behind to Tom Knowles' long-range strike, Pools hit back through Luke Armstrong and Gavan Holohan to claim all three points and gain ground at the top of the table.
Pools had the first chance of the game as Luke Armstrong shot into the side-netting before having another shot blocked by Adam Smith in the Yeovil goal. Next, Yeovil had two quickfire chances as Killip claimed from the feet of Rhys Murphy twice before the striker had a golden chance to put the visitors ahead. First, his goal-bound strike was blocked by Liddle twice before Killip tipped his follow-up around the post.
Rhys Oates went close with a left-footed strike as Pools pressed forward before Gary Liddle picked up a booking on his return to the side. An acrobatic effort from Holohan and a low cross from Oates came next as we looked for an opener. Killip lived dangerously to play himself out of trouble, eventually finding Liddle after skipping past Murphy and Reid.
In the second half, Pools started brightly as Oates drove forward from kick-off to sting the palms of Smith. Oates went close again shortly afterwards after a fantastic cross from White was headed narrowly wide of the far post. From the resulting goal-kick, Yeovil found the breakthrough. Smith's long kick was brought down by Tom Knowles 30 yards out before he unleashed a half-volley past Killip and into the top corner.
After huffing and puffing all afternoon, Luke Armstrong finally got his reward to bring Pools level. After great work down the left for Shelton, Holohan had a low shot saved by Smith before Armstrong pounced to bring up his eight goal in 12 starts.
Seconds later, Armstrong could have had his ninth of the season. Striking from a narrow angle, he saw his shot headed onto the bar and over for a corner. A draw looked likely, but 17-year-old Joe Grey had other ideas. Refusing to give up on a ball across the box, Grey beat Hunt and squared for Holohan to tap in the winner. Pools closed the game out with most of the play in the Yeovil half for a fantastic win that keeps us well in the play-off places.
