Match preview: Pools head to Wrexham

22 February 2021

Hartlepool United are looking to continue on from Saturday's victory as they head to Wales to face Wrexham AFC.

Pools climbed up to third in the National League table thanks to a 90th-minute winner from Gavan Holohan completing the comeback against Yeovil Town. A second half goal from Tom Knowles put the visitors ahead but an equaliser from Armstrong and the winner from Holohan gave Pools all three points.

Wrexham have only lost once in the last seven games. However, that defeat did come on Saturday as Aldershot came out 3-0 winners at the EBB Stadium. The red dragons currently sit seventh in the National League on 35 points having played one extra game to Pools. Their record this season sits at played 23, won 10, drew five and lost eight.

Dean Keates brought in 16 new signings through the doors of the Racecourse ground after a 20th placed finish last season. Most recently, Dior Angus joined on a loan deal from Barrow to add to the squads striking options.

When the two sides met back in November at The Vic, it was the away team that came out 1-0 winners due to a second half goal from Elliot Durell that sealed all three points. In their history, these two sides have met 110 times, Pools winning 41, drawing 18 and losing 51.
