Match Report: Pools Defeated at Barrow

Despite coming from behind twice, Pools were defeated at Holker Street.

It was the worst possible start for Pools. A quick break from Barrow found Zanzala on the left-hand side, he cut onto his right foot, past Odusina and finished into the bottom corner. Barrow 1-0 Pools.

Pools could have had an equaliser just two minutes later. Holohan found himself on the edge of the area. The midfielder had the option to make the extra pass to Ferguson but chose to shoot which was blocked well by Ellis.

12 minutes in and Pools with all the possession. Tyler Burey picked up the ball inside his own half, drove down the left hand side, took on three men before his shot was blocked.

On 17 minutes Pools got their equaliser! Jamie Sterry picked up the ball on the right-hand side, delivered a delicous cross to the back post and the on-loan man from Milwall, Tyler Burey heads home to make it 1-1.

Pools should have been ahead just five minutes later. This time Burey became provider as he floated a ball into the area and debutant Goodwin flicked on the header but it was straight into the arms of Farman.

HT: Barrow AFC 1-1 Pools

It was deja vu for Pools as the second half started. Just two minutes in Brough whipped a ball towards the back post where Gordon was able to tap home to put the hosts ahead again.

Pools looked for an instant reply as Sterry took a free-kick around 30 yards out, the effort was deflected but straight into the arms of Farman on 55 minutes.

61 minutes gone and Pools were back in the game again. Shelton controlled the ball inside the box, flicked it on to Goodwin who slotted home on his debut to make it 2-2!

Pools werent ahead for long as ten minutes later, a deflected shot on the edge of the area deflected to the substitue Dimitri Sea who found himself in all sorts of space to put the ball in a empty net and make it 3-2.

Despite Pools’ best efforts, Barrow were able to hold on for all three points. Pools are back at home next Saturday against Walsall
