Pools sign Zaine Francis-Angol

22 April 2021

Hartlepool United are delighted to announce the signing of Zaine Francis-Angol.

The defender joins the club after leaving fellow National League side Boreham Wood this week.

Francis-Angol started in the Tottenham Hotspur Academy. In 2011 he moved North of the border to sign for Motherwell.

After four seasons with Motherwell making over 60 appearances, Francis-Angol signed with Kidderminster Harriers.

After two seasons with Kidderminster, Dave Challinor signed him for Fylde on a 2 year deal where they made the play-offs in both seasons and won the FA Trophy.

A move to league Two followed with Accrington Stanley, however after the expiration of his contract Boreham Wood snapped up the highly rated left back/winger.

Francis-Angol made 16 appearances for the Wood including starting against Hartlepool back in December at The Vic.

Dave Challinor spoke about his new signings:

"Would like to welcome both Brad and Zaine to the club at what is an important time everyone. I'm sure they'll fit in brilliantly and impact the group over the remainder to of the season."

"Zaine is someone I know well and have worked with before. He's been part of two playoff campaigns with me previously and has experienced high-pressure games. He gives us options down that left-hand side and his pace, power and quality will really add to the squad."

Francis-Angol will wear the number 26.
