Pools sign Richie Bennett

1 April 2021

Hartlepool United are delighted to announce the signing of Richie Bennett.

The forward joins us on a loan deal till the end of the season from fellow National League side Stockport County.

Bennett's temporary move to the North East includes a recall clause which becomes available anytime after 28 days.

The six-foot-four centre forward, who originally came through the ranks as a schoolboy at Oldham Athletic, has signed a deal to stay with Pools till the end of the 2020/2021 season.

After leaving Oldham, the 29-year-old front man worked his way up through non-league, playing for Curzon Ashton and Mossley before enjoying a hugely successful stint under Jim Gannon at Northwich Victoria, scoring 44 goals in two seasons.

Since 2016, Bennett has had spells with Barrow, Carlisle, Morecambe and Port Vale before signing for The Hatters for an undisclosed fee back in March 2020.

Dave Challinor on his new signing:

"I am delighted to get Richie in. He is proven at this level and provides a different facet to our game. It has been well known that we wanted to bring a forward in and he has been one we have looked at for a while. To get the deal done is great for him and the club".

Richie Bennet on signing for Pools:

"Delighted to sign for Hartlepool United. This is a great opportunity for me and I want to come in and really help the team progress. Everyone can see how well Dave Challinor and his team have done and I am really looking forward to getting started".

Bennett is available for tomorrow's match-day squad and will wear the number 39.
