Pools sign Danny Elliott

14 April 2021

Hartlepool United are delighted to announce the signing of Danny Elliott.

The forward joins us on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

Elliott, 25, most recently played for Chester FC but the National League North side confirmed on their website and socials on Monday that he had left the club:

Elliott joined Chester in the summer of 2019 and has most recently spent time on loan at Alfreton Town.

Elliott began his career with the youth teams of Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.

He played college soccer for the Hofstra Pride between 2014 and 2017. He also spent time with North Carolina FC U'23S and the Long Island Rough Raiders.

He signed for Spanish Tercera Division club San Cristobal in October 2018. He left the club in January 2019 to trial with League Two side Port Vale. The trial was successful and later that month he signed for Port Vale until the end of the 2018-19 season.

Elliott then joined National League North club Chester FC on a one-year deal in July 2019, following a successful trial spell in which he scored against Wigan in a pre-season friendly. He moved on loan to league rivals Alfreton Town in January 2020. He scored a hat-trick on his debut for the "Reds" in a 6–1 victory over Gloucester City. He ended the loan spell with five goals from five games and was put back into the first-team following his return to the Deva Stadium. He scored three goals in 21 appearances for Chester in the 2019-2020 season.

Dave Challinor spoke about his new signing:

"Delighted to get Danny in with us to give us extra options at the top end of the pitch at this important time of the season. Thanks go to Bern and Jonno at Chester FC for being so understanding around the situation and to have Danny in permanent and not as one of our loan allocation was essential in making this happen."

"It's a great opportunity for him and I know one he's really looking forward to and keen to grasp. We had been looking for pace in the attacking third to complement what we already have and he'll certainly provide us with that. He's trained today, looked really bright, and fitted in great and I'm sure will be important to us between now and the end of the season."

We also spoke to Elliott on his new club:

"I am delighted to join Hartlepool United. I can't wait to get started. I just want to help the players who have been outstanding this season in this promotion push."

"I want to say thank you to everyone at Chester. I loved every moment there and wish them all the best. Thank you to the Gaffer here as well Dave Challinor, I really appreciate this opportunity. I trained for the first time today and he was great and so were all the lads so I cant wait to get going."

Elliott will wear the number 27 and will be available for this weekends matchday squad.
