Pools sign Brad James

Hartlepool United are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Brad James.

James joins on loan from fellow north-east club Middlesbrough until the end of the season.

James Boro's Academy at the age of 13. Brad's scholarship was extended in the summer of 2017 and he joined Billingham Town in work experience in late 2017 to gain competitive experience.

Season 2018/19 proved a progressive one for Brad, with 16 appearances made for the U23s.

He was on the bench when they win their first-ever game in the Checkatrade (Football League) Trophy, 1-0 away to Burton on November 7 2018.

In July 2019, Brad linked up with National League North club Gateshead on loan for the season. James was vital in the Gateshead play-off push.

In November 2020, Brad joined Aldershot Town on a month's loan. He was awarded man of the match in his first game, a 1-0 win over Notts County.

Dave Challinor spoke about his new signing:

"Brad has had experience at this level with Gateshead and Aldershot and with him being local is a great fit for us. With Ben being ruled out it was important we got an extra one in to cover all eventualities so we're delighted to get Brad in and thanks goes to Middlesbrough for helping us get the deal done."

James will wear the number 13.
