Hartlepool United are delighted to announce the signing of Lewis Cass
The defender joins us on a season long loan from Premier league side Newcastle United.
A regular for the under-23s, Cass captained the his side against Crewe on Tuesday night and has impressed continuously throughout the years.
Equally capable at right-back or at centre-back, Lewis figured for North Shields Juniors before joining United at the age of 12.
Cass has been an ever-present for the Under-23 squad in recent years after signing his first professional contract with the club in July 2018 and featured on the bench for Newcastle United's Emirates FA Cup third round clash at Rochdale.
Cass spoke about his loan move to Pools:
"I am delighted to get this deal done finally. I know a lot about Hartlepool and I know how passionate the fans are inside The Vic. I know things may not be the same this season but I just want to come in and try my best for this team".
Dave Challinor added:
"The deal for Lewis is one we have been trying to get done for a weeks but we are happy to get it over the line. He will bring strength and versatility to the back line and we are excited to get him involved".
