Luke Williams signs new contract

30 October 2020

Hartlepool United are delighted to announce that Luke Williams has signed a new deal at the club.

The midfielder who has been unfortunate with injuries since joining Pools has been working with both the club and specialists to regain full fitness and achieve a full working programme that will avoid any more reactions.

Williams featured throughout the pre-season games and was particularly the stand out performer in our tie against Brandon United bagging four goals. Luke has continued to work in the training camp and has no fresh injury concerns at the moment. Dave Challinor has had his say on Luke's progress:

“No one doubts his ability, he is a match-winner at this level."

“If Luke Williams is 100% fit and firing with a full season, he's a player who is miles above the National League he just needs to get to the point where he can trust his body and his body doesn't keep letting him down."

A graduate of Middlesbrough's famed Academy, Williams debuted for The Teessiders in 2009 at the tender age of just 16 years and 200 days, becoming the club's youngest player in over a century.

The former England Youth international turned professional with Boro before gaining senior experience with loan spells at Pools and Scunthorpe United.

Luke will continue to work in training and is now in contention for the matchday squad.
