Match preview: Wrexham head to The Vic

16 November 2020

Pools will be looking to complete the actual 90 minutes of a game this time as Wrexham head to The Vic.

Dave Challinor's side are coming off the back of a 45-minute display at Eastleigh where the treacherous conditions forced the referee to abandon the game after just 45 minutes. The scoreline was 0-0 at HT and a rearranged fixture date will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Pools may have had a hectic schedule recently but it has been the exact opposite for Wrexham who will have waited 20 days to play in a league fixture as their last tie ended in 0-0 home draw to Barnet on the 27th October.

The Red Dragons currently sit 14th in the National League table. Played 6, won 2, drawn 1 and lost 3. In all competitions, the North Wales side have only won 1 out of their last 5 games.

Dean Keates was appointed at the racecourse ground last October and guided his side out of a relegation battle, ending the season with a 20th placed finish. Keates strengthed heavily throughout the summer as 12 new players came through the door.

This will be the 110th meeting between the two teams with Pools being victorious in the tie last season. a 4-2 win at The Vic last August saw goals from Gime Toure and Liam Noble to make the overall record 41 wins it of 110 for Pools against the Red Dragons.
