We get an update from Women's Team boss, Jonathan Gibbon-Hayes...
Well what a few weeks for the Women's Team. Two weeks ago we were on the biggest of highs after our win over unbeaten Farsley Celtic to now being unable to train.
The coronavirus
is taking full effect and, like everyone else, we are now in total limbo. We
are seven games from a potential promotion to the National League which is the
equivalent of the First Team getting back in to the Football League to us.As you can
imagine, it's a stressful time for staff and players who have worked so hard to
get us in the current position and we are hoping the NERWFL will allow us to
finish the job at some point when it is safe to do so.We are all
incredibly proud to represent Hartlepool United and, as staff, we are extremely
ambitious and want to take this club as high as we possibly can.The
players are wanting to be role models for the young girls in the town and we
want the next generation dreaming of playing for this club.So now we
are looking at putting some plans into place so the girls can maintain fitness
in a safe environment that meets the FA's guidelines. It is
incredibly tough to keep them all motivated but luckily, we all have the same
end goal and we will stick together and hope we get to finish the job and make
the club and the whole town proud.Look after
yourself and each other during this extraordinary time and hopefully the
football can return soon.Jonathan.
