Pools Women Focused Ahead Of Ossett Test

13 March 2020

Pools Women are aiming to clinch a sixth successive NERWFL

Premier Division win on Sunday when they host Ossett United at East Durham

College in Peterlee (2pm kick-off).

Their dramatic 3-2 victory over rivals Farsley Celtic a

fortnight ago has blasted them back in to title contention but boss Jonathan

Gibbon-Hayes knows they must maintain their focus during the run-in.

Third-placed Pools can't afford to take anything for granted against an Ossett outfit who have more than held their own in the Premier Division following promotion last term.

“We've had two very good weeks of training on the back of the Farsley win,” revealed Gibbon-Hayes, whose side have games in hand on each of the top two.

“We are incredibly focused on taking things one games at a

time – nothing has changed for us, we still need to win our last seven games to

achieve our objective.

“What pleases me is that I am seeing a real hunger in the squad

and I know that every player wants to be part of it, which is fantastic for any

manager.

“Sunday is another opportunity for us to take a step closer

to where we want to be but we know Ossett will give us a massive test as they

did when we went to their place in January.

“We were really grateful for the fantastic support we

received during the Farsley fixture and we'd love to see as many Poolies as possible

back at EDC to get behind us again on Sunday.”

Pools are boosted ahead of the weekend game with the return

to contention of Jade Pye and Ellie Gutcher who have both spent several weeks on

the sidelines through injury.

The game kicks-off at 2pm on Sunday and entry to all supportersis free.
