Pools Boss Demands Zero Complacency

6 March 2020

Dave Challinor has urged his in-form players to back up

their excellent work on the road when they return to Victoria Park to host

Ebbsfleet United on Saturday.

The Pools boss masterminded an encouraging haul of four

points from the daunting trips to play-off rivals Boreham Wood and Solihull

Moors before turning his attentions back to extending their winning run at

home.

Pools go in search of a fifth consecutive victory on home

soil for well over a decade this weekend as they close on the play-offs and they

welcome an Ebbsfleet side who are desperate for points to avoid relegation.

However, Challinor is experienced enough to know that any

form of complacency could come back to hurt his team and has warned them they

must be at their best again come kick-off.

“As expectation builds and it becomes more tangible around

what we can achieve, football has a habit of kicking you where it hurts,” he

told Pools TV.

“From our perspective there is certainly no complacency.

This division is wide open and, regardless of where Ebbsfleet are in the table,

we know they'll be scrapping for their lives.

“Supporters' expectations may change and they will become

excited so we have to keep that going as best as possible and Saturday's game

is really important in that.

“For the first time this season we're on the brink of those play-off places and we want to stay there, slot ourselves in as quickly as we can and hopefully keep on progressing.”
