Pools Youth Team are back on home turf on Wednesday
afternoon when they host AFC Fylde in the NLFA North Division at Welfare Park in
Ian McGuckin is hoping his side can build on a decent point
gained in their first game of 2020 a fortnight ago against Chester when they
welcome The Coasters to the North-East.“We were probably a bit unlucky not to get the win against
Chester but it's a point on the board and we were pretty pleased with the way
we performed,” he told us.“We've had that little break over Christmas and now we're
really keen to get a run of games so it was frustrating that last Wednesday's
game was off due to the weather.“Thankfully, we're straight back at it this afternoon and we
want to put on a good display because we were poor at Fylde earlier in the
season so there's a wrong to be put right.“The lads are all excited about the game and between now andthe end of the season we really want them to push on and see where they can go.
“Seeing Joe Grey in among the First Team picture in recent
weeks should act as motivation for the other young players – can we get some
more knocking on the door in the coming months?”McGuckin will remain without Conner Rennison who is now
moving through his rehabilitation after undergoing surgery to repair a ruptured
cruciate ligament.Kyle Wilson will miss out with an ankle problem, Grant
Lowerson is missing with a hand injury and the game is also likely to come too
soon for Aaron Willoughby who is also nursing an ankle issue. The game kicks-off at 1pm and entry to Welfare Park is freeto all supporters.
