The Pools boss was full of praise for the team after goals
from Aidan Keena and Mark Shelton saw them through to a 2-0 win which took them
three points from the National League top seven. And whilst Challinor admitted he would analyse the
performance and see what could still be improved, he encouraged the players to
savour the feeling before returning to work on Monday.“We were brilliant – I've told the players they should bebouncing and absolutely buzzing,” he told Pools TV.
“It's my job to look at things, reflect, think we've done well
but use it as motivation to kick-on and get better – but the players have got
to enjoy it.“We had to make some tough decisions at the start of the
game in terms of team selection and I changed my mind overnight, if I am bring
honest.“We had to get some momentum if we're going to get in to the
mix and the team we picked were a credit but hopefully the ones we left out
realise it was a decision made to give us the best chance of getting the three points.“I thought for the first twenty minutes of the second half
we were very good and we won the game in that period – but it could have been completely
out of sight.“We've been there before, 1-0 up at half time – we're not a
bad team if you stop the game then! But we didn't want to just go out with the
mentality of managing the game and winning 1-0, we had to still have the intent
to get the second goal and I thought they did that brilliantly.“At some point, if you're going to get in to the play-offs, you have to have a run and hopefully this is the start of it now.”
