Our Fate Is In Our Hands - Challinor

24 January 2020

Dave Challinor has insisted Pools have their National League

fate in their own hands as they go in to the final third of the campaign still

aspiring for a play-off spot.

This weekend's game against Stockport County marks a welcome

return to home soil after the lengthy trips to Dover and Yeovil in recent weeks

and Challinor wants his players to make the most of it.

After collecting useful back-to-back draws on the road,

Pools now have the chance to draw closer to a Hatters side who arrive at

Victoria Park this weekend just five points above Challinor's side and on the

fringe of the top seven.

And the Pools boss – who spent two years on the books as a

player at Edgeley Park between 2002 and 2004 – is expecting a buoyant atmosphere

at The Vic to go with a big fixture.

“It's going to be a tough game,” he told Pools TV.

“It's a game between two clubs who, in the past, have been

higher up the pyramid so it's two well supported teams which will mean for a

big crowd and I'm sure it will be a great atmosphere.

“It's also a really important game. We're looking forward to

being back at home and trying to back-up the two decent results we've picked up

on our travels.

“If we can win on Saturday and make it four unbeaten then

that will mean we've got a bit of a run going, which will help us move forward

and keep us driving up the table.

“Over the next month we play plenty of teams who are higher in the table than us so it's a good opportunity to pick them off and hopefully get ourselves a run going that can culminate in an exciting end to the season.”
