14 February 2020

Solihull Moors v Hartlepool United
National League
Saturday 15th February 2020, 3pm
The SportNation.bet Stadium

In Opposition

Solihull Moors moved back in to the National League's play-off zone following their 1-0 win over Barnet, bringing to an end a run of six league games without a win.

The Moors finished second in 2018/19 but have had their ups

and downs during the current campaign and, after reasonably bright start, a

dramatic loss of form saw the departure of boss Tim Flowers in January.

The owners have now moved to install former West Bromwich

Albion coach Jimmy Shan as their new Manager this week and he will take charge

for the first time against Pools.

Shan has 12 games to ensure that The Moors clinch their

place inside the top seven but the play-off picture remains fairly cloudy, with

only nine points separating third and thirteenth ahead of the weekend games.

Solihull have won just twice at Damson Park in their last

seven in all competitions but Pools must still be wary because only top two,

Barrow and Harrogate Town, have taken more points on home soil so far this

season.

One To Watch

Jake Beesley scored the winner when Solihull Moors visited The Vic earlier in the season and new boss Jimmy Shan will be hoping he can get the front man back among the goals during the run-in.

The 23-year-old danger man netted twice in The Moors' 3-0

win over Chesterfield on New Year's Day but has been one of the victims of a

goal shortage since then.

However, following Paul McCallum's departure to Barnet on

loan, there will be more focus on the likes of Beesley and fellow striker Danny

Wright to provide the goals to underpin their play-off drive.

Head To Head

Saturday's game will be just the sixth competitive meeting between the two sides and the previous five have all been won by the team playing away from home.

The Moors have won on each of their three visits to The Vic,

including their 1-0 success in November when Jake Beesley scored the only goal

of the game.

However, Pools also have a 100% record at Damson Park where

they won 1-0 thanks to Liam Noble's goal last season and 2-1 in 2017/18 when

Jonathan Franks scored in the last minute to snatch victory.

On The Whistle

Steven Copeland will take charge of his third Pools game of the season this weekend when he's the man in the middle for our trip to Solihull Moors.

The official also saw us lose 3-1 to Sutton United on the opening

day before refereeing us during the dramatic 2-1 win over Yeovil Town at The

Vic back in October.

Copeland, who is in his first season on the National League's

list of referees, has overseen one Solihull Moors game – when they won 6-1 at

Chorley in August.
