Dave Challinor paid tribute to his players for delivering a
complete performance during Saturday's 2-0 win over Notts County at Victoria
Two goals from Nicky Featherstone ensured Pools enjoyed a thoroughly
deserved victory against The Magpies and pushed themselves to within one point
of the National League's top seven.Pools boss Challinor said that momentum is building all the time
after a fourth straight triumph on home soil – and he has encouraged his
players to keep on going as the business end of the season approaches.“What pleased me most? What didn't please me? I thought wewere excellent,” Challinor told Pools TV after the win.
“The one concern at half-time was that the game was 0-0 and
whether it comes back and bites you but we probably, with the first goal in
particular, got the little bit of luck our first half performance deserved.“In two or three months we've come on leaps and bounds – theplayers take all the credit for that.
“We set out with a game plan of how we wanted to play but we
knew it would be difficult against those conditions but the lads took it on board
and it couldn't have gone any better.“What pleased me was that we have been in that situation before
at 2-0 up – yes, our personnel has changed but we looked really composed and we
looked more likely to get the third.“We wouldn't have been able to put in that performance a
couple of months ago but that's, again, credit to the players for believing in
what we've been asking them to do.“Against a good side we have put in a really complete performance
so I am just really pleased and it build our momentum even more. We're giving
our amazing fans something to shout about.“The games will get bigger and bigger, and then, ultimately, in the middle of May we want to be in the biggest game that this league offers – we're giving ourselves a shot at that right now.”
