In the first ten minutes, Hartlepool escaped giving away an early penalty after Solihull Moore's Ball throws himself to the ground and the referee waved away the appeal.
The first big chance- of what had been a shaky game before then- forces Ravas to pull out a brilliant instinctive save, after lazy Pools defending gave Osbourne a great opportunity to put Solihull ahead.
Halfway through the first half, Solihull's Jamey Osbourne could have considered himself lucky to escape an early sending off after putting a really tough in on Odusina, just a yellow though.
In the 35th minute, Holohan rattled the post after some great Pools play. Once in behind you back him to score there, but bad luck kept it out.
Soon after, Pools were forced into changing to a back 4, as Odusina was given his marching orders for a last man challenge that seemed harsh to be given as a foul at all.
Pools saw half time at 0-0 after enduring wave after wave of Solihull whipping balls into the Pools box, through resolute defending.
Ten minutes into the second half Pools had a penalty appeal as Bloomfield did really well to take down a long ball on his chest and drive into the box. He rode a couple of challenges before finally going down, but the referee was not interested.
After a spell of both teams having chances end to end, Solihull put themselves 1-0 after Pearce redirects Cranston's low whipped cross with his head.
Pools miseries were compounded after Magloire tried to take the ball under control and slipped, giving James Ball a birthday present to slot past Henrich Ravas.
Substitute Joe Grey nearly pulled one back after some great footwork in the box, before the Solihull post was struck for a second time.
Challinor will be disappointed with the manner of the defeat and Pools will look to bounce back when they return to The Vic on Saturday.
