Gavan Holohan has admitted that Pools never really found
their best form on Tuesday night as they were held to a 1-1 draw by
The midfield man was employed in a wing-back role for the
clash with The Spireites and helped Pools take an early lead when Peter Kiosostabbed home an opener on nine minutes.
However, it was a platform on which Craig Hignett's men
failed to build and Tom Denton nodded a leveller which knocked Pools out oftheir stride and made for a scrappy second half.
“It's a bit frustrating,” he told Pools TV.
“I thought we were pretty good for the first half an hour
and if we had got that second goal we could have gone on and won by three orfour.
“We had good phases of play and momentum was with us but we
didn't get the second goal and then when they scored it was a bit of a suckerpunch and we couldn't get ourselves going again.
“We didn't have that cutting edge and I don't think that was
for the want of trying – we all put in a shift but it just didn't click for usin the second half.
“That happens, and if you don't play at your best then you've got to make sure you don't lose the game.”
