Under 11 Girls Battle For Wembley Spot

17 October 2019

On Tuesday 15th October our annual The National League Trust: Road to Wembley competition began with the Under 11 girls tournament at the Sports Domes in Hartlepool.

We had a great turn out from nine primary schools in Hartlepool and the surrounding areas competing for the chance to play at Victoria Park to be crowned town champions and potentially go on to represent us at Wembley.

It was fantastic to see some new schools taking part as well as our regulars.

Group A featured:
Pentland 2
Rift House
Throston
Wingate
West Park

Group 2 featured:
Pentland 1
St Joseph's
Grange
Rossmere

After some closely-fought matches and plenty of goals, the semi-finals saw St Joseph's take on Rift House and Rossmere up against West Park.

The two games were refereed by non-other that HUFC's very own Kenton Richardson and Aaron Cunningham who called in to see the talent on display.

Last season's Hartlepool winners St Joseph's narrowly beat Rift House 2-1 and Rossmere vs West Park ended in a 1-1 draw, leading to sudden death penalties which West Park eventually won.

St Joseph's and West Park will now compete on Saturday 26th October when Pools take on Barnet at Victoria Park, for the chance to represent Hartlepool at the regional tournament which will take place in early 2020 and potentially run out at Wembley!

Our boys tournament takes place on Tuesday 12th November and there is still time for schools to get involved, just email hucsf@hartlepoolunited.co.uk

Thank you to all teams who took part, and Aaron and Kenton for taking the time out of their day to support the girls.
