Ian McGuckin has told his young players that they must maintain
their focus when they make the trip to face Stockport County in the FA Youth
Having thrashed Seaham Red Star in the previous qualifying
round, Pools Youth Team are now just one win away from the First Round Proper
but McGuckin won't allow his squad to get carried away.He has admitted that there is real excitement surrounding
the trip to Edgeley Park, and he's hoping the youngsters can transmit that in
to a strong display against The Hatters.“We had a good result in the last round and it comes roundquickly for us so we're looking forward to it,” McGuckin told us.
“As ever, the lads are really excited to play in this competition and it's good for us to be building up to playing against another different opponent.
“I think you can always sense some nervous energy when it's the FA Youth Cup – it's an important game but, in truth, it's no different to any other and we have to just stay focused and concentrate on what our jobs are.
“It will be great for the lads to play on Stockport's main
pitch under the lights so we will be doing everything we can to go there and
get a positive performance which can get us to the next round.”There are no new injury worries for McGuckin ahead of the
trip to Stockport, with midfield man Conner Rennison the only absentee with a
knee problem.Admission at Edgeley Park is just £3 for adults and £1 forconcessions.
