We Found It Difficult - Sweeney

6 November 2019

Antony Sweeney admitted his frustration after seeing Poolsbeaten 1-0 by Solihull Moors at Victoria Park on Tuesday evening.

Jake Beesley's header in the second half was enough to give

Tim Flowers' visitors all three points for the third season running at The Vic as

Pools' four game unbeaten run under Sweeney came to an end.

The caretaker boss refused to be too downhearted by the

result but conceded that Pools hadn't been as clinical in the final third as

they needed to be against a resilient Moors outfit.

“It was a frustrating game,” Sweeney told Pools TV.

“They are a difficult team to play against – they're a

direct side, they're effective at what they do and they pin you back so we

found it difficult to get some momentum or flow in the game.

“We got in some good areas but we lacked that cutting edge, that ruthlessness and that finishing touch really.

“The first goal was always going to be massive and we started

the game well and had some good openings – if we take one of those the game

could be different but we didn't.

“I didn't think we would find a way through aerially, I think

it needed to be clever play around the box so we tried to get our creative

players on to the pitch but it wasn't to be.

“I spoke to the new Manager today before the game and we'llspeak more tomorrow when I will show him around the training ground.

“I am looking forward to him coming in, it might be the right time for him to lift the players and hopefully it will go really well.”
