Dave Challinor insisted that the 5-1 scoreline did not flatter
his side after they blew Chesterfield away with a powerful performance at The
Two goals apiece from Gus Mafuta and Gime Toure plus a great
strike from Luke James did the damage for Pools – but the boss admitted that he
was still annoyed at the break after seeing his side pegged back at 2-1 in
injury-time.However, they produced an aggressive display after the break
to sweep their hosts aside and now Challinor wants more of the same on a more
regular basis.“You would think after our first half performance that we
would be massively happy – but, to be honest, I was absolutely fuming because
we dominated and then switched off for a minute,” he told Pools TV.“They got it a little bit at half-time and, ultimately, I
challenged them and gave them a bit of a warning that if we didn't win the game
then there'd be trouble.“And then you in at the end and say ‘well, that showed me' becausethey reacted brilliantly.
“The goal at the start of the second half probably settled
us down and gave us the impetus to go on and the goals we scored were really
good goals and I don't think the scoreline was flattering.“To score five away from home is amazing. It's only three
points so we have to stay pretty grounded and we know we have to move on and I
think we can get much better.“You have to enjoy wins because they're tough enough to get.
We'll enjoy tonight, we'll enjoy the bus trip home and then get back to work on
Thursday.“I said on Saturday that four points from the two games
would be a good return and now all of a sudden that result against Boreham Wood
looks a better one because we've come here tonight and won.“It's amazing for the fans. What we have to do now, and the challenge we have, is that we have to produce that at home now.
"Rather than the 300 behind the goal tonight screaming and shouting, we want the 3,500 at The Vic screaming and shouting – then it will be an unbelievable place to play football.”
