Chesterfield v Hartlepool United
Vanarama National League
Tuesday 26th November, 7.45pm
The Proact Stadium
In Opposition
Chesterfield come in to this evening's game at The Proact Stadium on the back of consecutive National League defeats to Chorley and Harrogate Town.
John Sheridan's men struggled during the early part of the
campaign and didn't pick up their first win of 2019/20 until their eleventh
outing when they overcame Torquay United 1-0 on home turf. They went on a run of three wins from four as September
turned in to October but they didn't manage to maintain that consistency and
have tasted victory just once in their last six in all competitions. The Spireites currently lie 20th in the National
League table and will hope they can pick up form as the campaign moves towards
a potentially crucial Christmas schedule. One To Watch
Mike Fondop has proved an astute signing since Chesterfield boss John Sheridan took the front man to The Proact Stadium during the summer.
The 25-year-old has already scored more National League
goals during 2019/20 than he managed last term, firing home his eighth of the
campaign during Saturday's 3-1 loss at Harrogate Town.Head To Head
Tonight's game will be the 93rd competitive meeting between the two sides and Chesterfield have the edge historically having won on 42 occasions compared to Pools' 35 victories.
The last two encounters have finished 1-1, though Pools did
get the better of the Derbyshire outfit when they came to The Vic last season
thanks to Nicky Featherstone's goal.Pools have drawn on their last two visits to The Proact
Stadium but they did win there back in 2011 when goals from Paul Murray and
James Poole (2) ensured a 3-2 triumph.Last Meeting
