Peter Kioso looks likely to miss Sunday's FA Cup tie at
Exeter City but the injury suffered by the defender on Tuesday night at
The defender left the field on a stretcher following ten
minutes of on-pitch treatment during the latter stages of the 5-1 win at The
Proact Stadium and was taken to Chesterfield Royal Hospital.Thankfully, medical staff there were able to quickly rule
out any significant injury but the 20-year-old was treated for concussion
before being allowed to travel home in the early hours of the morning.“Peter wasn't able to pass the tests we use on the pitch for
neck and spinal injuries so we had concerns and the doctor and paramedics weren't
happy,” explained the Club's Sports Therapist, Callum Davidson.“He was put in a neck brace and stretchered from the pitchas a precaution, before being taken directly to the local hospital.
“They immediately carried out further scans and assessments
which ruled out any serious head or spinal injuries but did diagnose him with a
concussion.“We won't really know how severe that is until we see how he
responds in the coming days but he will now follow the FA's concussion
protocols.“We would like to thank the medical staff at Chesterfieldand also those who looked after him at the hospital for all their help.”
