Youth Team: 2018/19 Season Summary

15 May 2019

Here's a look back on how our Youth Team got on during 2018/19, including a final Youth Alliance League table.

Pools Youth Team enjoyed a really competitive year and were in the race for the North East Division title until the closing weeks of the campaign.

Ian McGuckin’s young squad perhaps overachieved given their age, producing a number of outstanding displays throughout the season to finish a creditable fifth in the table.

Only six points separated them from eventual champions, Grimsby Town, and Pools finished below fourth-placed Mansfield Town on goal difference alone.

In 2019/20 the Youth Team will compete in the Under-19s National Youth Alliance, which includes teams such as Darlington, Harrogate Town and York City.

McGuckin’s men will also still be eligible to compete in the FA Youth Cup next term too in which they will once again hope to have an exciting run.
