Featherstone Wins Goal Of Season Award

28 May 2019

Nicky Featherstone's brilliant chipped finish in the win over Maidenhead United in August has been voted as the Michael Maidens' Goal of the Season for 2018/19.

The midfielder darted on to a Michael Woods’ through-ball before turning and delicately lifting the ball over the keeper from a tight angle for a superb winner against The Magpies.

Featherstone had already scooped the Super 6 Goal of the Month prize for the sublime effort but the goal has now also been chosen as the best of the campaign by supporters.

We created a shortlist and opened the voting to fans in recent weeks and plenty of you have been having your say over what should take the coveted prize for the past season.

Featherstone’s goal came out on top in the vote – but only just…

Luke James’ fine finish against Salford City at the end of a 23-pass move on the final day of the season came a very close second, just a single vote behind!

Meanwhile, Niko Muir’s exquisite lobbed finish in the 1-1 draw with Aldershot Town in September finished in third place.

Click on the video above to take another look at Featherstone's winning strike, as well as all the other goals that made the shortlist.
