Craig Hignett has admitted that it looks likely that Aaron Cunningham won’t play again this season after he was forced off with a knee injury during Saturday’s win over Wrexham.
The young defender, recalled to the side in the absence of David Edgar, went down clutching his knee and had to be replaced on the half-hour mark.
“We’ll have to see how it settles down but it looks like it’s medial ligaments,” Hignett revealed.
“He’s had such tough luck, Aaron. He started the game really well after slotting straight back in – he was competitive and aggressive to get the injury like that is unlucky but he’ll be back.
“I imagine it will be about four to six weeks but then he will be back raring to go for next season.”
