Ian McGuckin has warned his Youth Team players they must not show any complacency as they look for their third victory of the season over Rotherham United on Saturday (12noon kick-off).

After returning to winning ways at Chesterfield last weekend, Pools are back in the race for the Youth Alliance League title but McGuckin knows there is little room for error during the run-in.

They have already beaten The Millers in league and cup this term but McGuckin says that this weekend will offer a brand new challenge for the youngsters.

“We should be confident because we’ve beaten them twice but not complacent,” he explained.

“Last week’s win makes it interesting in terms of the table but we need to build on that result and get back-to-back victories now.

“We want to give ourselves every chance to compete in the closing stages but to do that we have to be totally focused, give maximum effort and finish the season strongly.”

McGuckin’s side are five points behind leaders Grimsby Town ahead of the weekend’s game at Rotherham for which he has a fully-fit squad to choose from.

The fixture takes place at Roundwood Sports Complex on Green Lane in Rawmarsh and entry is free for all supporters.
