Super Movers is an exciting partnership between the Premier League and BBC which aims to inspire primary school children to get active.

Stars from across the worlds of football and television are brought together in fun curriculum-linked Brain Booster song and movement routines for use by teachers in the classroom.

Routines focus on Literacy and Numeracy and range from fractions to punctuation to times tables. Active children do better and get more from their school day.

Staff from our Community Sports Foundation have been promoting the scheme with H’Angus in primary schools within Hartlepool.

Yesterday, our cheeky monkey H’Angus travelled to London as one of 33 mascots to be part of The Super Movers Mascot Mashup on The One Show.

H’Angus has given us an account of the day in his own words…

I arrived at Darlington train station at 7.45am to start my long trip to London to find out my train was delayed. Great start to the day! I was getting some funny looks at the station but I have no idea why.

I finally arrived at Hallam Conference Centre and met all my mascot buddies. The day instantly got better. There were 33 of us in total from all English Leagues and even Scottish.

We rehearsed the dance routine for a couple of hours, it was lots of fun. They wanted a couple of mascots to do a bit of freestyling so obviously I volunteered. I was going to do ‘the worm’ but Bertie from Burnley beat me to it!

We then had to leave for the BBC Studios where I was filmed being a bit mischievous (for a change!).

We got to the studio and rehearsed on the stage ready for the night time performance.

We then headed back to the conference centre where we had time to chill and catch up with some of my footballing friends.

We went back to the studio, where we met up with the presenters Matt and Alex, who were lovely. We also met AJ and Karen from Strictly Come Dancing. I wasn't allowed to take her home unfortunately but I think she took a shine to me too!

The show started, the stage was set; “Don't mess this up, H'Angus”…

I did it. We did it. We were outstanding!

The show went on. We all said our goodbyes. I travelled back from Kings Cross with Roary the Lion from Middlesbrough and finally got home and tucked up in bed at 00:45

What a day!
