Craig Hignett is confident his players can pick up another good result on the road at Sutton United on Saturday if they continue to work as hard as they have done in recent weeks.

The Pools boss has overseen an upturn in form since taking over permanently at the helm and his side have collected four points from their last two long-distance away trips.

A big test lies in wait this weekend against a Sutton outfit who are gunning for a National League play-off spot for the second season in succession.

However, Hignett says there is a growing belief in the Pools camp and it’s a fixture they will approach in good heart at Gander Green Lane.

“The lads are upbeat,” Hignett told Pools PlayerHD.

We’ve had a good week and that’s given us a chance to rest a few bodies and get one or two back for what is going to be a tough game on Saturday.

“Sutton have been really consistent and won a lot of games and they’re right up there on the fringe of the play-offs but it doesn’t matter where you go in this league, you’re in for a difficult game if you’re not right.

“Our lads have applied themselves well so there’s no reason we can’t go there with confidence and expecting a good result because if we’re at it we’ll give anyone a game in this league.

“The players have been excellent since I took over, I can’t fault their attitudes at all – now we’ve got another big challenge ahead of us but it’s one we’ll look forward to.”
