We're Raising Standards Across The Board - Hignett

24 June 2019

Craig Hignett has laid out his vision for the 2019/20 campaign as the players returned to the training ground for pre-season on Monday morning.

The Pools boss sat down with us before first session of the day got underway to talk in-depth about his determination to bring success to the Club and how he plans on going about it.

Hignett has revealed how there has been a huge amount of work done behind the scenes and at the training ground to ensure the players have the best possible environment in which to prosper.

Now he wants the staff and squad to pull together from Day One, raise the bar in terms of their approach and work ethic, and ensure that it marks the start of the Club’s fight to regain EFL status.

“The standards have to change within the Club because we’ve drifted – we won’t be doing that anymore,” Hignett told Pools PlayerHD.

“We’ve got to better, and that’s all of us, so as a staff we have to work smarter and better and longer and the players have to do the same.

“They have to do everything they can to make themselves the best they can be because we’re not going to put up with floating through another season.

“I want to be involved in something at the end of the season, whether that’s promotion or whether it’s play-offs – I want to be involved in exciting games at the end of it.

“We’ll do everything we can to make sure that happens and take all the excuses away from the players – they don’t have any excuses now, the Club is set up and geared for us to have a really good season.”
