Pools Complete Signing Of Gime Toure

20 June 2019

Craig Hignett has completed his latest piece of summer transfer business with the acquisition of powerful centre-forward Gime Toure.

The 6ft 2ins Frenchman travelled to the North East on Wednesday and put the finishing touches to his move to The Super 6 Stadium on Thursday morning.

A strong and mobile front man with a good touch and an eye for goal, Toure spent the first half of last season at AFC Fylde before moving to Sutton United for whom he scored against Pools in March.

In all, the 25-year-old hit the net seven times in 41 appearances last term but he also offers a real physical presence that Pools boss Hignett has been looking to add to his attacking armoury.

Toure learnt his trade playing in his homeland and a particularly eye-catching 2013/14 campaign for Viry-Châtillon drew attention from the Premier League and he spent time on trial with West Brom.

The front man was back in England during the summer of 2017 when he spent pre-season training with Wrexham before opting to sign for eventual champions Macclesfield Town.

Hignett has kept tabs on Toure throughout the summer after identifying him as a target and has now pushed through a deal to make him the latest new recruit at Pools ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Toure will now link-up with his new teammates for pre-season when that starts at East Durham College in Peterlee next week.
