The National League was watched by over two million spectators last season for the first time in the competition's history.
In what was a landmark campaign, crowds peaked to an all-time high as supporters surged through the turnstiles.
The highest attendance in the National League was the 8,282 recorded by Wrexham for their match with title rivals Salford City in January.
Stockport County was the most-watched club in National League North, with 6,311 seeing their home game with Spennymoor Town.
Despite dropping a division, Torquay United’s crowds were in fact up 32% in National League South - a season-best of 5,351 witnessed their Bank Holiday game with Hungerford Town.
National League Chairman Brian Barwick said: “The National League is in wonderful shape and I am thrilled to say we have surpassed the two million mark for attendances for the first time.
“The figure is considerably larger than ten years ago, and it’s incredibly encouraging to see some many people going through the turnstiles at our football clubs, the heartbeat of our communities.”
National League Chief Executive, Michael Tattersall also echoed those words, adding: “This season our three divisions have exceeded an aggregate of two million for the first time.
“That means crowds have nearly doubled in size over the past decade. This is wonderful news.”
It was a record breaking season for crowds across the National League - but who enjoyed the biggest surge at the turnstiles?
The stats made for great reading for the division’s newcomers last year. All four of the promoted sides saw huge average attendance increases as supporters came out to get behind their clubs.
Salford City, the National League Promotion Final winners, had a rise of 66.3% from the year before - even though that was a title-winning season.
Harrogate Town too saw crowds really climb. Some 52.1% more went to see their matches, while a whipping increase of 59.3% was enjoyed by Havant & Waterlooville, despite their struggles.
Braintree Town also saw their gates go up with 44.8% watched. Leyton Orient’s title charge was felt in their Ticket Office - crowds went up 25.6%
Success on the field was mirrored by a sharp rise in Solihull Moors’ attendances. They had just under 45% more fans last season than watched them during 2017/18.
Pools averaged a National League attendance of 3,146 during 2018/19, whilst the highest turnout was for our game against Wrexham in March when 3,888 turned up at The Super 6 Stadium.
