Molyneux Reveals Fans' Role In His Signing

12 June 2019

Luke Molyneux has revealed that the love he's felt from Pools fans during and since his loan spell last season helped make up his mind on a permanent return to the Club.

The flying winger sparkled for Pools whilst on loan from Sunderland in the second half of 2018/19 and his performances ensured he became a firm favourite with supporters.

Speculation has been rife about his future all summer and that only intensified in recent weeks following his release by Sunderland, though some fans feared he would be out of Pools’ reach.

However, Craig Hignett and Ged McNamee helped get a deal over the line for the 21-year-old star and Molyneux has now admitted that the chance to play in front of The Super 6 Stadium crowd again was also a key factor.

Now he's hoping Pools fans can turn out in force next term and help roar the team on as they bid to play their way in to the National League promotion battle.

“It’s made it a lot easier for me knowing that the fans wanted me here, they were a big influence on me coming back,” he told Pools PlayerHD.

“The atmosphere while I was here was unbelievable, I don’t think you could really fault the effort that the fans put in so I am just looking forward to seeing what next season brings.

“The fans are the biggest part of this Club, we play for them and hopefully we can get back up to where we should be.

“I don’t think we really wanted last season to end because we were playing so well so hopefully we’ve shown what we can do and we can get even more good results next season.”

Molyneux is signed-up for 2019/20 – isn’t it time you were too? The Club’s Ticket Office is open until 6pm on Wednesday night to allow fans to buy their Season Tickets.
