Luke Williams Signs New Pools Deal

5 June 2019

Luke Williams has pledged his future to Pools by putting pen to paper on a brand new contract to keep him at The Super 6 Stadium.

The talented attacking midfielder signed his first permanent deal with the Club last August after proving his fitness in training and it was an acquisition which was met with huge positivity from supporters.

Williams spent a very successful loan spell with Pools in 2013/14 when he excelled during seven appearances which brought him two goals so his signing was greeted with real excitement.

However, a knee injury suffered in training required two operations to repair and that led to the 25-year-old spending the entire 2018/19 campaign on the sidelines.

Williams has now put that frustration behind him and some hard work with the Club’s medical staff has returned him to fitness and he will be hoping to hit the ground running in pre-season.

A graduate of Middlesbrough’s famed Academy, Williams debuted for The Teessiders in 2009 at the tender age of just 16 years and 200 days, becoming the club’s youngest player in over a century.

The former England Youth international turned professional with Boro before gaining senior experience with loan spells at Pools and Scunthorpe United, the latter paying a fee to take him on a permanent deal in 2015.

Williams was at The Super 6 Stadium on Wednesday afternoon to sign his new deal and he will now be keen to make up for lost time when the squad reconvenes at their Peterlee training base later this month.
