Pools continued their explosive start to pre-season by firing seven unanswered goals past Newton Aycliffe in front of a good crowd at Moore Lane on Tuesday night.
Craig Hignett's men were thoroughly good value for their win and once again showed a really ruthless streak to put their Northern League Division One opponents to the sword.
Pools dominated possession in the early stages but struggled to find their cutting edge, though Adam Bale had a half-chance at the far post but was closed down and couldn't finish.
Liam Noble swung a free-kick just too high from twenty-five yards before Niko Muir got through but saw his low drive deflected wide of the target.
It was midfield man Noble who did get the breakthrough when it came though; some neat build-up play around the edge of the area worked the angle for him and he sent a lovely finish in to the top left-hand corner of the net.
Mark Kitching almost grabbed a second not long afterwards when he got space on the left of the area but his angled drive was brilliantly tipped round the post by Aycliffe's keeper.
Muir came even closer to making it 2-0 when he got on the end of a cross from Kenton Richardson after wonderful attacking play from the full-back.
At the other end, the home team's strikers were living on scraps but Pools did need to call upon Brad Young to be brave at an Aycliffe player's feet during a rare counter-attack.
Luke James then doubled the lead when he reacted quickest when the ball fell loose as Noble's run was halted by a defender, the front man lashing a low finish beyond the helpless keeper.
And it was 3-0 right on half-time when Josh Hawkes brilliantly cut inside from the left and curled a wonderful goal right in to the far top corner of the net.
Teenage keeper Young came to Pools' rescue with a fine save down to his left in the early stage of the second half but, after that, normal service was resumed and Craig Hignett's men got back on top.
Michael Raynes headed just wide from a Josh Hawkes corner, before Hawkes himself tested the keeper with a drilled free-kick and then James nodded just wide from close-range.
Hignett rang the changes on the hour-mark but the opportunities kept on coming, Gavan Holohan coming close after good link-up with Nicke Kabamba.
However, it was Gime Toure who grabbed the fourth goal when he arrived right on cue to finish off a lovely, flowing move down the right with a sweet right-footed finish in to the bottom corner from twelve yards.
Jason Kennedy then almost grabbed a fifth when he bundled in to a shooting position only to see his shot blocked but it fell kindly to Kabamba who knocked in from close-range for 5-0.
Kabamba could have added the sixth after a powerful run from Toure but the shot was saved but the keeper had no chance with Luke Molyneux's brilliant free-kick minutes later as the in-form winger whipped it in to the top corner from twenty yards.
Toure rounded-off the scoring when he made it 7-0 right at the death as Pools ruthlessly broke down the left from a Newton Aycliffe corner and, when Molyneux's shot was saved, the Frenchman was well-placed to fire home the rebound.
