We turn our attentions to Saturday’s action with a full and in-depth preview of our National League trip to The CNG Stadium.

Harrogate Town v Pools
National League
Saturday 19th January 2019, 12.35pm
The CNG Stadium

In Opposition
Harrogate Town have emerged as one of the surprise packages in the National League this term and remain among the play-off places ahead of this weekend’s game against Pools.

Simon Weaver’s side were brimming with confidence on the back of promotion from National League North last term and have carried that momentum in to a brilliant 2018/19 campaign.

Just one defeat in their opening 16 games of the season made their intentions clear and the ambitious North Yorkshire outfit have stunned many teams along the way this term.

They have suffered their first real dip in form over the past month having taken just one point from the last available 15 but it will be hoped their FA Trophy success at Dover Athletic last weekend can prove the catalyst for a return to form.

Star Player
Jack Muldoon has enjoyed an excellent first season in Harrogate Town colours having joined the club in the summer from AFC Fylde.

The 29-year-old has plenty of National League experience and helped Lincoln City win promotion from the division during the 2016/17 campaign.

Muldoon is already in to double figures when it comes to National League goals this term and he hit the net twice last weekend as Simon Weaver’s men won 2-1 at Dover Athletic in the FA Trophy.

Head To Head
Saturday’s game will be just the second competitive meeting between the two clubs following August’s 2-2 draw at The Super 6 Stadium.

The sides have locked horns in pre-season friendlies a couple of times in recent years, Pools winning 3-0 at Harrogate in July 2011 but losing 2-1 on their most recent visit in July 2017.

Referee
Marc Edwards will take charge of his third Pools game of the season when he’s on the whistle for our weekend trip to Harrogate Town.

The official hasn’t brought us much luck in his previous appointments this season having seen us beaten 1-0 at home by Ebbsfleet United in August, while he also oversaw our 3-0 defeat at Salford City in September.

Edwards was also in the middle for our loss to Eastleigh on home soil last term and our defeat at Halifax last February though he did see us win when we beat Bromley 2-1 at The Vic in March.

His most recent National League outing came on New Year’s Day when he was on duty at AFC Fylde for their goalless draw with Barrow.
